Budget self grade: A

We just squeaked in under budget on this one. Thailand is, overall, a fairly affordable destination, although the intra-country traveling does add up a bit. The only reason that I’m happy with this close call on the spending here is because of our splurges, namely scuba diving school and the elephant sanctuary, both experiences on which we planned for Thailand and knew would make a big dent in our finances here. We also only used hotel points for a single night out of the 35 we spent here and didn’t use airline miles at all, so this country was almost entirely a cash situation for us. All in all, not too bad on the spending front.
