Budget self grade: A

Ending strong! We squeaked in JUST under budget with this one – the budget was $100/day and we landed at $99/day! And if we hadn’t bought tickets to Huatulco (Oaxaca) before we decided we weren’t actually going to go there, we would have averaged out at $94/day. So we pulled this one off – with a little help from our friends! Shoutout to Hally and Gabe who gave us a free place to spend a few nights in Sayulita as we debated what to do with the rest of our lives. =) Mexico budget pros – food is inexpensive, lodging can be budget-friendly if you’re not toooooo picky, and there’s lots of low-cost and outdoor activities ranging from beaches and hiking if you’re on the coast to parks, museums, Lucha Libre(!), and Sunday biking down the Reforma in Mexico City. Cons – the coast is a vacation hot spot, which means the prices are always higher there than elsewhere. But not enough to make most Americans cringe.
